Limassol – An 18 month old boy missing from his grandparents’ home at Ypsonas since 7.30 on Friday morning was found safe and sound around 3.00 pm, some 2 km away.
The boy, Stavros Styllis was found by a woman near Ypsonas cemetery. The woman, who was going to the cemetery, heard the child crying and found him wet from rain, sitting in the grass near a wooden shed, some 50 metres from the entrance to the cemetery.
She alerted a passerby who called the family. The father arrived immediately. The child was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons. He is said to be unhurt.
Police are continuing their investigation and believe they child was abducted and later abandoned at the location he was found.
Police had launched a massive hunt after the boy, son of a colonel in the National Guard, disappeared. Police said the child was on the porch of the house belonging to his grandfather and grandmother when he disappeared. A car was seen leaving the area at high speed. Tracker dogs, council officials, officers of the National Guard and local people took part in the search.
