The Sovereign Base Area Administration Area Office in Akrotiri has recently donated nearly 1000 frozen meals to the Infants Welfare Association in Limassol, which gives food and supplies to poor families and children on island.
The meals, which were originally intended for in-flight catering between the UK and RAF Akrotiri, were deemed surplus after a mix-up with the contractor meant there were too many meals in stock.
Quick-thinking staff immediately identified the IWA as a worthy cause and they were delighted to receive the meals with a variety of main courses, including chicken, beef stew, lasagne and macaroni cheese.
