NICOSIA - Police have arrested a man in connection with the armed robbery of a bank yesterday.
Investigators had been on the lookout for a man who got away with around €3,000 after holding up a USB Bank at around midday on Metochiou Avenue, in Engomi.
According to bank staff, a man wearing dark sunglasses walked in brandishing what appeared to be a gun and shouted at the teller: “Give me everything! I haven’t had a (drugs) hit in two months!” According to CID investigators, the suspect matches the same description of man who recently struck the Emporiki Bank in Larnaca Avenue, also in Nicosia. Later in the day, state radio said that a man from Crete was arrested in connection with the robbery
