NICOSIA - 32,262 people were jobless in January 2012, with 31,455 the previous month, according to seasonally adjusted data released Friday by the Statistical Service.
The number of registered unemployed at the end of January 2012, reached 37,102 persons. Compared with January 2011, this is an increase of 8,188 persons or 28.3% which was mainly in the areas of trade (up 1.706), construction (up 1,605), hotels and catering (up 1,352), manufacturing (up 1,005), and public administration (up 737).
