NICOSIA - A wave of expected strikes looked to be off Wednesday after a compromise formula was accepted by employers and unions.
Labour Minister Sotiroulla Charlambous put forward the deal which would allow for the payment of the 1.7% January Cola increase by all employers.
In cases where companies are having difficulties employers have agreed to discuss with staff and unions the option of freezing pay.
