LIMASSOL – Cyprus’s national tennis team moved triumphantly into the next round of the Europe/Africa Zone Group II Davis Cup on Sunday after a 3-2 victory over Morocco at the Spryos Kyprianou Arena in Limassol.
Cyprus – who are spearheaded by tennis star Marcos Baghdatis - will now face Ukraine in early April.
Apart from Baghdatis, Yiannos Hadjigeorgiou’s Cyprus also consisted of Raresh Cuzdriorean, Christos Hadjigeorgiou – who made his Davis Cup debut and Sergis Kyratzis.
Cyprus had taken the lead in the three-day tournament when the doubles team won Saturday’s encounter and the contest was over when Baghdatis trounced Morocco’s Idmbarek Yassine 6-4, 6-1, 6-0 in the deciding game.
