 LARNACA - A 74-year-old man has been jailed for shooting the driver of a car following an accident that resulted in his granddaughter’s death.
Angelos Iosif, of Simolofou, admitted causing grievous bodily harm to Marios Loizou following the 2010 accident. He was jailed for two-and-a-half years.
The court heard that he shot the man three times with a hunting rifle on the day of the 17-year-old girl’s memorial service.
Loizou had been driving at 109kph in a 50kph limit when the car crashed. He had ignored please from his passengers, including the girl, to slow down.
The girl died in her grandfather’s arms the following day.
