NICOSIA - A nationwide strike by petrol station owners ended late on Friday after promises given by Minister of Interior Eleni Mavrou.
The strike which began at 6am on Friday was against the authorities' failure to freeze the 'uncontrolled' issue of new licences in an oversaturated market.
The government assured protesters that the new provisions in issuing petrol station permits are part of district town planning and are much stricter.
But she also explained that it is not a closed profession.
