NICOSIA - Snow and ice are making many roads impassable or hazardous around the island and police are asking drivers to take extra care.
Higher areas of Nicosia, Paphos and Limassol districts are all affected.
In addition, a number of schools across the island are closed because of problems caused by the weather. Among them are the high schools of Agros, Omodhos and Lemythou.
Mount Olympus has 35cm of snow, with 25cm on Troodos Square.
Police announced that the Erimis-Kyvides-Platres road is closed to all vehicles. The Platres-Troodos-Prodromos road is impassable.
Four wheel drive vehicles are required on some roads in the Palechori, Agros, Fterikoudi, Alona, Polystypos, Platanistasa, Lagoudera and Pharmakas areas.
Drivers should check with local police before venturing into the higher areas of the island.
