 BRUSSELS --- Cyprus` trade deficit decreased during the first ten months of 2012, according to data released by Eurostat.

The deficit was reduced by 400 million euro, compared to the corresponding period of 2011.

According to the same data, Cyprus` total value of exports for January-October 2012 stood at 1.2 billion euro, recording an increase of 6% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Imports declined by 8% with the total value reaching 4.8 billion euro.

Moreover, the data show that total EU imports from China reached 243.5 billion euro (down 1% compared to the same period of 2011) while imports from Russia increased by 6% and stood at 176.1 billion euro. Imports from the US rose 9% reaching 174.2 billion euro.

During the same period, EU exports to China reached 120.6 billion euro (up 8%), 102.7 billion euro to Russia (up 16%) and 246.5 billion euro to US (up 14%).

EU records trade surplus of 72.3 billion euro with the U.S., and deficit of 122.9 billion euro and 73.4 billion euro with China and Russia respectively.
