LARNACA - Α Europe-wide event on aviation safety entitled "Walkout for Safety" will be held on Tuesday by the European Cockpit Association (ECA) to protest against the new draft of EU regulations prepared by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) that allows airlines to schedule aircrews’ flight hours.
President of the Pancyprian Airline Pilots` Union Petros Souppouris said that ECA represents over 38,650 pilots in 38 European countries including Cyprus adding that pilots and flight attendants will participate in Tuesday'ss events to take place simultaneously in several key European airports including Larnaca demonstrating their opposition to the proposed new draft on aircrews’ flight hours.
Speaking at a press conference , he also said that in the framework of the events information leaflets will be distributed to the passengers while a relevant resolution signed on-line by almost 100,000 Europeans will be handed over to the Chairperson of the European Parliament`s Transport Committee Brian Simpson in Brussels.
