Nicosia - Anorthosis marked an impressive victory on Saturday to stay clear at the top by beating rivals Omonia 3-1 at the GSP stadium. 

It was the Famagusta side's 16th victory in 19 games putting them on 51 points and nine ahead of second placed APOEL who play against Olympiakos on Sunday.

However, Omonia suffered a disappointing fifth defeat in the Championship and stay on 32 points in fifth place in the table.

The hero for Anorthosis was Barak Itzhaki who scored two goals from close range in the 55 'and 65' minutes to secure the three points.

Then on 77 minutes Rezek notched 12th league goal scored to make it  3-0 for Anorthosis but the Czech striker was sent off late in the game for a second yellow card.

Omonia did manage a consolation goal on 90 minutes through Alves.

 Anorthosis have now scored 43 goals giving the best attack in the top flight while also having the best defence in only conceding 9.
