LARNACA - Larnaca District Court today issued a three-day custody decree against four people in connection with accusations of an illegal marriage of convenience.
Two are from Bulgaria, a man and a woman aged 24 and 30 respectively, a man from Bangladesh aged 27 years and a man from Sri Lanka aged 37 years.
Police are investigating conspiracy to commit an indictable offense and aiding illegal entry and residence in the Republic of Cyprus.
The four were arrested at Larnaca where they had gathered for a wedding allegedly between the girlfriend of the Bulgarian man and the Bangladeshi.
A police spokesman said they acted on information that illegal aliens were involved.
Another two Asians who were found at the municipality were arrested for conspiracy, along with two others suspected of illegal entry.
