NICOSIA - A week only before February 17's presidential elections in Cyprus and Opposition Disy leader Nicos Anastasiades remains the race's frontrunner.
This is what a Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation poll aired Saturday evening showed.
The poll, carried out by Cypronetwork on behalf of the state broadcaster using a random sample of 1419 people, has Anastasiades getting 39.9% in the first round. The high percentage gives him a comfortable win in the second round against either of his two main rivals.
The poll has him followed by ruling Akel-backed Stavros Malas with 24.2% and independent former minister George Lillikas who is supported by socialist Edek with 20.2%.
The poll was carried out between January 21 and February 3, 2013.
Those who would not answer were 7.3% and those casting a blank vote 9%.
