LIMASSOL -- It's party time in Limassol today as the coastal town plays host to the grand carnival parade which marks the peak of carnival festivities here. There is a record number of 135 floats this year, with more than 15,000 people expected to watch the procession and dance along with particpants..
The parade is expected to start around 13.30 pm and continue through the afternoon. Police are urging the public to comply with traffic arrangements.
Tomorrow, Green Monday, is the start of Lent in the run-up to Greek Orthodox Easter. Traditionally Cypriots head to the field for picnics and games. Municpalities in Paphos and Larnaca are organising Green Monday events.
