CAIRO - FIFA have donated 250,000 US dollars to the families of the victims of last week's violence in Port Said, Egypt.
More than 70 people were killed in the clashes following the match between Al Masry and Al Ahly on February 1.
FIFA yesterday announced they would be contributing to a fund set up by Al Ahly.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter said: "I stated after the tragedy that this day was a black day for football.
"I'm still very shocked by what happened. Many of the victims were so young. They were also a crucial support for their families, who now need help.
"The football community, including FIFA, must assist its Egyptian brothers and sisters."
FIFA demanded a full report into the incident, with some reports suggesting Egyptian security forces did not do enough to intervene.
SOCCER: Rennes booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France by seeing off Evian 3-2 in last night's sole surviving last-16 encounter.
With the night's two other scheduled matches between Dijon and Paris St Germain and Quevilly and Orleans postponed due to frozen pitches, the game at Route de Lorient took centre stage.
The hosts went in front through Jires Ekoko after 21 minutes and Julien Feret made it 2-0 nine minutes into the second period.
Substitute Yacine Brahimi made it three in the 68th minute, before late consolation strikes by Kevin Berigaud (70pen) and Sidney Govou (73) set up a grandstand finish. (PA)
