The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation will on Saturday, March 31 be performing two afternoon concerts featuring one of the most popular characters in children’s fiction, Barbar the elephant.
‘The story of Barbar, the little elephant’ concerts have been organised as part of the Orchestra’s commitment to musical education from early childhood, and in collaboration with the Education Ministry.
During the two public afternoon concerts at Strovolos Municipal Theatre, Nicosia, the children will have the opportunity to enjoy the story of their beloved little Babar, in Greek, accompanied by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra performing the music of Francis Poulenc orchestrated by Jean Francaix.
The programme takes place under the music direction of conductor Alkis Baltas, and features narrator Petros Yiorkatzis. The children can also sing with the orchestra’s performance of ‘Babar’s Song’ featuring lyrics by Vicky Stylianou.
Suitable for children aged between three and eight, accompanied by their parents, Saturday’s concerts will take place at 4pm and 5.30pm. Tickets are priced at €7 (for adults) and free entrance vouchers (for children and young people under 18 years old) are available at the theatre’s box office () in advance and, if remaining, on the day.
