A few days before Easter, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra is presenting two concerts entitled ‘Music for the Divine Passion’.
Limassol concert will take place on Saturday, April 7 at the Rialto Theatre, at 8.30pm.
The concerts are under the music direction of the orchestra’s conductor Alkis Baltas and will feature young Cypriot soprano Elena Patsalidou and mezzo- soprano Theodora Baka and narrator Father Joseph Skender. Members of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra are also participating.
The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy excerpts from works by Albinoni, Bach, Pergolesi, Haydn, Schubert, Cherubini, Fauré and Gorecki. These include excerpts from Bach’s ‘St. Matthew Passion’, from Pergolesi’s ‘Stabat Mater’ Fauré’s ‘Requiem’ and Haydn’s ‘Seven Last Words of Christ,’ amongst other pieces.
Ticket prices are at €12 and €7 (18- 26 years old and pensioners). Entrance is free for children and students under 18 years old.
